This symposium provides the firs set of findings form the British Academy funded project: Becoming a Man in Sri Lanka: Understanding Post-Compulsory Education Trajectories. The University of Kelaniya and Newcastle University have become partners in exploring why the porpportion of young men attending University is lower than for young women. Whilst existing work has identifed economic background and parental income as important features, this project epxlores the role of masculinity.


The symposium will showcase work in the area of masuclinity and education from leading scholars and practitioners in the field.
